Spending time on the WRONG outdated strategies
Is business cards, random leaflet drops and local ads really bringing you inconsistent clients that you would class as your ‘ideal clients’? Are they filling up your clinic/practice?
If not, why are you still doing it?
Every single day, marketing is changing – it’s an evolutionary eco-system of being better at targeting people who need to help you offer.
Stop wasting your time on 101 actions, and instead gain the best 1-2 actions that are certain to help others and bring you in a more consistent lifestyle.
Therapists lack a ‘next level’ ‘entrepreneurial mindset’
I totally understand – I was once there. I seemed to want to focus on what I knew best and not do anything else. However, you have to be really critical and ask yourself if
a) you want to commit time
b) you want to commit money
With the latter you are paying someone else to worry about all the things you don’t like, however with the first you MUST start to think like a leader, and get stuck in. If you don’t like sales, you’ve got to reframe your thinking. When you ‘sell’ your service, aren’t you helping someone be a better version of themselves? That’s why you do what you do right?
 No working system
Going back to point 1 – do you really have a system for attracting the right clients? Do you always find yourself battling with people over pennies, offering discounts and cancellations?
You have to attract the RIGHT clients, your ideal client. You want the ones who appreciate your service, are willing to pay that little extra to get the best service possible. Most importantly, you need data to back up where you are spending your money and the outcome of this. If you are not tracking this, you need to get on this, asap.
Not all of us like technology, but it’s part of the modern world and whether YOU like it or not – your ideal clients are probably screaming out for the ability to book in appointments easily, maybe even gain access to a knowledgable database of information they can access in their own time. Maybe they want to be reminded by text message?
If you don’t want to do it or are unsure how to start, get a strategist in first to ensure you are matching your clients’ needs and then implement it.
5] Over-thinking and sceptical thinking
We all do it – each day we have between 50,000 – 70,000 thoughts, of course, we overthink! However, it’s when it becomes dangerous. If you have high ambitions for your own business and not taking significant risk, you need to start taking some calculated ones. If you are not ambitious, why are you in business? We build the business to better our lives and for those around us, we can help. It’s selfish to limit your abilities when you could achieve so much in your lifetime.
Also, you WILL fail, you WILL make the wrong choices. It’s inevitable. A strange thing happens though when you do, you become better, more productive and build a stronger business that helps more people.
Question everything and be alert, but go with your gut and never allow your logical mind to work everything out. The truth is, if you could work it out, you would be doing it already.
Does this resonate with you?
More importantly, take action and make a change TODAY so you can make TOMORROW a better place.
