One of the first things I do when I wake up is to focus on the direction I’m going…literally the FIRST thing.
Each morning I write a small snippet in my blog to talk about how the previous day has gone and thoughts about my direction going forward.
Then I thought…
Am I using the sat nav OR the traditional map? 🗺
Years (and years) ago, when I was one of those short things (a child 🚸), I remember going on a trip.
We travelled from every South-East to, more or less, the North-East of England. Long trip 💤
I vividly remember it, because I was ‘in control’ of the map.
Do you remember those guides that were more like an interactive book?
“If you reach Birmingham, please go to page 48” – those types 🎮
I loved it! 🤓But then, I’m a bit of a geek like that.
The modern age and technology has presented us with sat navs, and don’t get me wrong, I use them.
Tools like Google Maps are nothing short of genius.
Page 48 never told you the traffic and diversions.
However, as we know, sat navs can go wrong.
They are ‘robots’, that have been told by humans to act in a certain way. Giving set directions.
Which, brings me onto my point for today – are you running your business like a robot?🤖
Are you trying to follow ‘set directions’, trying to follow someone else’s plan?
Thankfully I’ve changed my mindset to grab out the traditional map.
The traditional map is a range of information that you interpret in your own way.
Yes, it may be difficult and seem a BIG challenge at first.
However…if you know your general direction, don’t worry about the details.
As you get closer, you’ll get better and better at recognising the signs, which will bring you closer to your destination.
You still need to plan but don’t think that just because something has worked for someone, it will have the EXACT same effect on you.
It’s perfectly normal to have roadblocks on the way 🚧
